Ingredients (serves 4-6)
For sushi rice:- • 500 g cooked rice
- • 50ml rice vinegar
- • 1 tbsp sugar
- • 1/2 teaspoon salt
- • 50ml rice vinegar
- For toppings
- • 1 slab (200-250g) of fresh raw tuna
- • 1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
- • 1 tbsp mirin (if not available, not required)
- • 1 avocado
- • 200 g crab meat
- • 1 cucumber
- • 2 slender green onions
- • 1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
Cut a cucumber into slices.
Chop green onions into small pieces.
Serve the rice on a plate, and sprinkle on a mixture of sugar, salt and vinegar.
Slice the avocado and tuna.
Place sliced tuna in a pot. Add soy sauce and mirin, and mix well.
Decorate the bed of sushi rice with cucumber, crab meat, tuna, avocado and chopped green onions.
*Instead of rice vinegar you could use any wheat vinegar or a citrus juice as lemon or grapefruit juice.
*Other possible toppings: fish with white flesh (sea bass, for example), raw salmon or boiled shrimp.
